Save the Children International, in collaboration with Lagos State Government and other human interest organisations have launched a global report on Pneumonia.

The report aimed at creating awareness about maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH), as well as providing health education on pneumonia and other related ailments, including child protection against rape and abuse, was launched in Lagos.

Area Operations Manager, Lagos and Cross River, Save the Children, Mr. Roy Chikwem said despite technological and scientific advancements in today’s world, the atrocious reality is that many children have not survived to experience their fifth birthday, because of preventable diseases such as pneumonia.

Deputy Director, Lagos State Ministry of Health, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke, said about 920,000 children die every day because of pneumonia, but the world has decided to eliminate pneumonia because pneumonia accounts for one of the greatest child killer diseases in the world.
