Governor candidate of Labour Party (LP) in Plateau State, Dr. Patrick Dakum, has won the suit brought against him by one Ambassador Yohanna Margif, who contested the primary with him.

Dissatisfied with outcome of the exercise, he went to High Court, Appeal Court and finally the Supreme Court, where Dakum’s candidacy was yesterday reaffirmed.

The appeal was thrown out by Justice John Inyang Okoro following the dramatic withdrawal of the appellant, upon discovery that the matter has become statute barred.

Counsel to the appellant, Opeyemi George Ojo, had pleaded with the apex court to invoke Section 22 of the Supreme Court Act to take over the matter and resolve all disputed issues in favour of his client.

But his persuasion was rejected by the five-man panel of justices on the ground that conditions precedent for the court to invoke the cited section were not met.
