Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, Sen Basheer Lado, in a statement, yesterday, confirmed that ministerial nominees had commenced documentation ahead of their screening and confirmation by the Senate.
He stated that the nominees were already submitting relevant documents as first in the series of procedures for the screening and confirmation.
The nominees are expected to be screened and confirmed by the Senate in compliance with Section 147 of the Constitution.
Those who have been cleared by the Department of State Services (DSS) reportedly besieged Lado’s office to submit their curriculum vitae to beat the deadline.
Tinubu had written the Senate seeking the screening and subsequent confirmation of seven ministerial nominees he announced in Abuja last Wednesday.
The President had hours after their nomination, last week, written to the upper chamber, asking the lawmakers to consider and confirm the seven nominees for appointment as ministers.
They include Nentawe Yilwatda (Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction), Muhammadu Dingyadi (Labour and Employment), Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu (State, Foreign Affairs) and Jumoke Oduwole (Industry, Trade and Investment).
Others are Idi Mukhtar Maiha (Livestock Development), Yusuf Ata (State, Housing and Urban Development) and Suwaiba Ahmad (State, Education).
