Senate to investigate alleged $322m Paris Club largesse sleaze
The Senate is to probe allegations of corruption and diversion of the $322 million Paris Club refund.
Former chairman of its committee on Niger Delta Affairs, Peter Nwaoboshi, told reporters yesterday in Abuja that the upper legislative chamber would not overlook what he called “abuse of funds meant to carry out development projects in the country’s 774 local governments areas.”
He said: “Let me assure Nigerians that as soon as the Senate is settled, I shall bring a motion to investigate the $322 million of the 774 local governments in Nigeria allegedly taken by consultants from the Paris Club refund. It must be investigated by Nigerians. Nothing will stop it.”
