Seven killed in early morning attack on Adamawa village
Suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked Miltho village in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa state, killing seven people in the early hours of Wednesday.
The insurgents, who burst into the village from the eastern flank of Sambisa Forest, also injured 10 villagers, before fleeing with food items.
“They stormed our village on motorbikes and immediately opened fire on the people and behead others with knives,” Papka Madu, a member of vigilante group told The Guardian on Wednesday afternoon.
“As at the last count, seven people were killed while about 10 others were injured and were rushed to a clinic at Gulak.”
“Despite the attacks, some of our villagers were able to flee into nearby bushes and hills,” said Madu on phone.
Madu said the villagers were shot to death while they were sleeping.
Chairman of Madagali Local Government Area, Muhammad Yusuf, confirmed the death of seven people but said the total figure was uncertain.
“You know I travelled to Yola and my deputy just confirmed to me that seven people were killed as houses and shops (were) burnt by suspected insurgents,” he said.
