Vice President Kashim Shettima has paid glowing tribute to the late Emir of Zuru, Major General Muhammadu Sani Sami (rtd), describing him as a revered monarch whose legacies of service and leadership will be remembered for generations.
Speaking on Friday at the funeral ceremony organised by the Kebbi State Government in Zuru, the Vice President, who led the Federal Government delegation, extended President Bola Tinubu’s condolences to the government, people of Kebbi State, and the bereaved family.
He noted that traditional institutions remain critical to sustaining peace and unity across the country, stressing that the late emir exemplified this role with distinction.
“I am here at the behest of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to personally convey his deepest condolences to the governor of Kebbi State, the immediate family of the deceased, the entire people of Zuru, and indeed all Nigerians over this great loss.
“It is a sad day for the nation, for Kebbi State, and for all Nigerians as our royal father is laid to rest. His legacies will endure because he dedicated his entire life to serving the nation and humanity. We will always remember him. May Almighty Allah grant him Aljannatul Firdaus and grant his family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” Shettima said, while also praying for sustained peace and unity in Nigeria.
On behalf of the family, the eldest son of the late monarch, Sadiq Sani Sami, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his show of support and respect for the traditional institution.
He recalled his father’s virtues of humility, hard work, kindness, and generosity, noting that these values shaped not only his family but also his community and the nation at large.
