Vice President Kashim Shettima on Friday stood in for President Bola Tinubu at the wedding fatiha of Abdullah, son of former Vice President Namadi Sambo, in Kano.
On arrival, Shettima was received by Kano State Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, who represented Governor Abba Yusuf, as well as former Vice President Sambo, Senator Danjuma Goje (Gombe Central), and other dignitaries.
The marriage between Abdullah Sambo and the daughter of Prof. Abdullahi Umar was solemnised at the Al-Furqan Mosque by the Chief Imam, Sheikh Bashir Umar, following the payment of a N500,000 bride price.
While the Vice President stood in for the groom’s family, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, represented the bride’s father.
Conveying President Tinubu’s goodwill, Shettima offered a prayer for a blessed, fruitful, and blissful union for the couple.
Among those present were Minister of Defence, Abubakar Badaru; Minister of Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh; former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido; and PDP National Chairman, Umar Iliya Damagum.
Shortly after returning from Kano, the Vice President also attended the wedding fatiha of Khalifa Ishaq Baffa Jibrin and Maryam Amani Yahaya at the National Mosque, Abuja.
The solemnisation, conducted by the mosque’s Chief Imam, Dr. Muhammad Kabir Adam, followed the payment of a N500,000 dowry. Shettima gave out the bride, Maryam, on behalf of her family.
Dignitaries at the Abuja ceremony included Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, Borno State Deputy Governor Umar Usman Kadafur, and several other notable figures.
