The Ayedero of Yorubaland and former federal lawmaker, Hon. Shina Peller, on Thursday joined political associates and admirers of the late former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, to commemorate the sixth anniversary of the former governor’s passing.

The memorial visit took place at Ajimobi’s resting place in Ibadan, where prayers were offered in honour of the late statesman, who died on June 25, 2020.

Among those who joined Peller at the remembrance were former Oyo State lawmaker Hon. Seyi Adisa, Hon. Kayode Lanihun and Hon. Olugbemi. The delegation also paid a courtesy visit to the former First Lady, Chief (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi, expressing continued solidarity with the family.

Reflecting on the occasion, Peller described Ajimobi as a leader whose contributions to Oyo State continue to inspire political leadership across the South-West.

“Today marks the sixth anniversary of the passing of our revered leader and former Executive Governor of Oyo State, the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi,” Peller wrote in a post shared on his Instagram page.

“To honour his enduring legacy, I paid a visit to his resting place to offer prayers for his peaceful repose and to extend my continued warmth and comfort to our dear mother, Her Excellency, Chief (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi.”

Peller said the presence of several political leaders at the memorial reflected a shared commitment to preserving Ajimobi’s legacy and promoting unity.

“The journey of leadership and legacy is one best walked in unity,” he stated, adding that the late governor’s contributions remain “a guiding light” for future generations.

Ajimobi made history as the first governor of Oyo State to complete two consecutive terms in office. His administration is widely remembered for its emphasis on urban renewal, infrastructure development and public sector reforms.

Peller, who is the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) senatorial candidate for Oyo North in the 2027 general elections, has remained active in youth development and leadership initiatives.

Through the Lead Generation Initiative (LGI), he has supported the training of thousands of young Nigerians in leadership, governance, political organising, civic engagement and strategic communication.

Earlier this year, Peller also marked his 50th birthday by providing grants of ₦1 million each to 50 entrepreneurs and individuals, an initiative that attracted widespread commendation for promoting enterprise and economic empowerment.
