No fewer than six persons were burnt to death in a ghastly motor accident that occurred at Ode Aye Junction in Okitipupa local council of Ondo State yesterday.

The Guardian gathered that the accident involved a Coaster bus coming from Akure and a J5 bus that was loaded with ethanol from Igbokoda, the headquarters of Ilaje local council of the state.

It was learnt that the vehicles collided and burst into flames when one of them was trying to overtake another vehicle.

Sources in the area disclosed that the passengers in the Coaster bus, which belongs to Akure North local council, were on their way to Okitipupa to attend a social function that had to do with one of the directors in Odigbo local council.

“The two vehicles collided after one of them wrongly overtook another car at a dangerous bend close to Oluwa River.

The two vehicles caught fire,” a source said.

The source revealed that six people were burnt beyond recognition while other victims were rushed to Prima Hospital in Ore where they were receiving treatment.

It was gathered that residents of the community tried to put off the fire to no avail due to the inflammable nature of the ethanol loaded in the J5.
