The patrol team of Operation Lafiya Dole about 5.30 am yesterday gunned down three female Boko Haram suicide bombers at Umarari village, along Damboa road on outskirts of Maiduguri metropolis in Borno State.

The suspected bombers sneaked into Maiduguri with strapped Improvised
Explosive Devices (IEDs) to attack Molai community and other soft targets along the road.

The Borno State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Isuku Victor, disclosed this in a statement in Maiduguri.

The statement read: “This morning about 0530hrs, three female suicide bombers with IEDs strapped to their bodies were sighted by the military patrol team in Umarari village along Molai towards Maiduguri.

“They were promptly gunned down and the IED on two of them exploded, killing all of the three of them. The unexploded IEDs on the third suspect was rendered safe and detonated by the Police Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD), which promptly mobilised to the blasts
