Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has completed the construction of the 2.62-kilometre Bank Road in Nnewi, which links to St Mary’s Cathedral Church in Uruagu Nnewi.

The road, previously in a deplorable condition, has been revitalised with newly laid asphalt, streetlights for night illumination, and traffic markings to improve flow.

The project is part of the administration’s urban infrastructural development plan for the state.

In a statement issued yesterday, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, described the development as a significant step in Soludo’s vision to transform Anambra into a hub for businesses and economic activities, often referred to as making the state the “Japan of Africa.”

Aburime highlighted other infrastructural projects under the administration, including efforts to reshape Ekwulobia into a cosmopolitan city.

Key developments in Ekwulobia include a newly constructed flyover that has reduced traffic congestion and improved access to local markets.

The governor has also undertaken the construction of adjoining roads, such as the two-kilometre Nanka-Ekwulobia-Aguata Council Area Headquarters road and the 1.125-kilometre Ekwulobia-Isuofia road.

Also, the Ekwulobia urban renewal project features a modern bus terminal, a fuel station, a security office, a fire station, and other facilities like sewage treatment, drainage systems, and landscaping.

Aburime further noted the ongoing construction of an ultra-modern market to accommodate traders, complete with a motor park, sports and recreation facilities for local and international events, and spaces for cultural festivals.
