Key stakeholders from government, financial services, technology, and business sectors in Imo State and Interswitch, one of Africa’s leading integrated payments and digital commerce companies, have pledged continued collaboration towards achieving sustainable digital transformation in the state.
The pledge was made at the sixth edition of Interswitch’s flagship industry engagement series, TechConnect 6.0, held at Protea Hotel, Owerri, with the theme “Built for What’s Next: Designing Adaptive Financial Infrastructure for a Dynamic Market.”
According to our reporter, the event provided a platform for the stakeholders to examine how adaptive financial and digital infrastructure can support innovation, improve service delivery, and drive sustainable economic growth in an increasingly digital economy.
Delivering the keynote address, Mr. Justice R. Okoye, Executive Chairman of the Imo State Internal Revenue Service, highlighted the importance of connected and adaptive infrastructure in strengthening institutions, enhancing service delivery and expanding economic participation.
Also, speaking on the theme, Tyoyila Aga, Vice President, Business Innovation and Growth, Interswitch, said the evolution of financial infrastructure presents an opportunity to deliberately build systems that are resilient, flexible, secure and inclusive.
Aga noted that as financial services, businesses and government processes become increasingly digital, infrastructure must evolve from standalone systems into connected ecosystems capable of supporting emerging services, channels and changing customer expectations.
He also identified interoperability, cybersecurity, data governance and inclusion as key considerations in developing infrastructure capable of remaining relevant as the digital economy evolves.
“Through TechConnect, Interswitch continues to provide a platform for industry dialogue, knowledge-sharing and collaboration among stakeholders working to strengthen the infrastructure, capabilities and partnerships required to support sustainable digital growth.” Aga said.
The panel session, titled “Building a Digital Economy: The Role of Government, Industry and Talent in Shaping the Future,” examined the interconnected roles of government, the private sector and human capital in driving sustainable digital transformation.
Speakers at the session discussed the importance of supportive policies, private-sector innovation and the development of digital skills in creating an ecosystem capable of responding effectively to emerging opportunities.
The fireside chat, “Driving Digital Transformation Through Public-Private Partnerships,” further explored how government, financial institutions, technology providers and businesses can collaborate to develop more connected and sustainable digital solutions.
The discussion also examined the role of partnerships in improving access to digital services, strengthening service delivery and supporting economic activities beyond major commercial centers.
Participants stressed that sustainable digital transformation goes beyond technology investment, noting the importance of strong institutional frameworks, collaboration, skilled professionals, reliable systems and solutions designed around the needs of businesses and citizens.
The event also showcased Interswitch’s enterprise payment and digital commerce solutions. Through live demonstrations, participants explored how technology and infrastructure can support transaction processing, streamline business operations and create seamless payment experiences across physical and digital channels.
