Stakeholders and residents of Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State have decried the state government’s attitude to the completion of roads in the oil-rich city.

They expressed worry that most of the internal roads done over 30 years ago by Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN), now ExxonMobil, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) have collapsed thereby giving the city an ugly look.

It was however gathered that, about 18 major link roads within the oil-rich council had either broken down completely or riddled with deep potholes.

The most affected roads are Idua, Ibekwe, Ikot Udoma, Mkpok, Enenekpene, Editung and Oron roads.
Others are : Afaha Atai, Afaha Ukwa Obohoidim, Ekong Edon, Mount Zion, Onung Mbang, Ediam, Grace Bill and Stadium, Essien, Edem Udoh and Almighty roads among others.
