Tinubu’s re-election campaign: First Lady rallies door-to-door movement

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged members of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement to intensify grassroots mobilisation for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election, charging them to take the administration’s message of hope and shared prosperity to households across the country.

She said the door-to-door campaign strategy offered a vital platform for direct engagement with Nigerians, understanding their concerns and communicating the administration’s achievements.

The First Lady spoke on Friday in Abuja while commissioning the headquarters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, where she also expressed confidence that Nigeria was on the path to economic recovery and sustainable development.

According to her, investor confidence in the Nigerian economy has improved, while the administration’s reform agenda is expected to deliver greater prosperity.

She urged members of the movement to go beyond seeking votes and ensure that their engagements with citizens conveyed a message of hope, peace, unity and development.

“The door-to-door campaign approach remains one of the most vital avenues for true community engagement. It gives us the privilege to listen to the heartfelt concerns of families, understand the aspirations of our young people, honour the wisdom of our elders, and learn directly from the women who serve as the resilient backbone of our homes and society as a whole,” she said.

Mrs Tinubu stressed that effective political mobilisation must involve listening to the people and addressing their aspirations, rather than merely visiting homes to solicit support.

“Our message must consistently resonate with hope, peace, unity and development, especially the impactful progress the Tinubu administration has made so far,” she added.

Commending the movement for extending its activities to 14 states, the First Lady urged its leadership and members to sustain the momentum as the All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares to commence its presidential campaign.

She also called on the campaigners to conduct their activities peacefully and treat Nigerians with respect, irrespective of their political affiliations.

“Let us win the hearts and votes through the strength of our message: Renewed Hope, True Federalism and Shared Prosperity,” she said.

Also speaking at the event, Senate President Godswill Akpabio urged Nigerians to maintain faith in the country’s gradual progress, expressing optimism about the direction of the administration.

“The message is that hope is here, hope has come and hope is alive,” Akpabio said.

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, in his remarks, said state governments were benefiting from improved revenue under Tinubu’s administration.

He said the increased allocations had strengthened the capacity of subnational governments to meet their obligations, including the payment of workers’ salaries and contractors’ bills.

The convener of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, represented by High Chief Matthew Tonlagha, pledged that the organisation would expand its grassroots mobilisation efforts to all parts of the country in support of Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The movement said it had already taken its campaign to 14 states as part of efforts to build nationwide support for the President ahead of the 2027 general election.
