State of toilets in Lagos Schools

Toilet facilities are critical elements of any society, especially in a learning environment. This is because the state of toilets could help students or pupils stay in school, especially females.

This is why some argue that school managers need not just build good toilets but such toilets should be well maintained.
Lagos is the acclaimed megacity and it is expected to lead the pack in the provision of good and adequate facilities in schools.

A visit round some schools in Lagos revealed that toilet facilities do not enhance learning and have a tendency to make students stay away from schools, thereby contributing to the out-of-school figures in Nigeria.

While some primary and secondary schools across Lagos have quality toilets, others do not have. Where there are toilets, the doors are sometimes off. Here is a graphic representation of what some toilets look like.
