The political dispute between the All Progressive Congress Governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola and Daughter of Former President, Iyabo Obasanjo, took another twist when the latter accused that former of ”having trust deficit”, warning him to stop blackmailing her over campaign expenses reimburse.

 Senator Solomon Adeola at a market leader event had accused Obasanjo of allegedly demanding reimbursement for campaign expenses totaling millions of naira and dollars, saying the request pointed to what he viewed as a transactional approach to politics.

However, reacting to the development, yesterday on a Radio Programme, the former APC governorship aspirant explained that shortly after Adeola was picked as APC the concesus candidate, he contacted her and they met at her residence where they discussed how both camps could work together to the 2027 elections.

She explained further that instead of seeking personal financial gain, she asked members of her political group to put forward three proposals intended to strengthen unity within the party.

Obasanjo mentioned the proposals to included: providing support to help offset campaign expenses, if he deemed it necessary, accommodating at least three of her loyalists within his campaign team, and backing her future ambition to contest for the Ogun Central Senatorial seat.

She noted that after six weeks of waiting with no response, she decided to leave the party because she felt she and her supporters were not treated fairly and later joined the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) to contest for Ogun Central Senatorial District.

Reacting to the allegation on Oju Abe, a Current Affairs Programme of Splash 106.7FM, Abeokuta, Obasanjo said that Adeola had trust issues and lacks integrity, urging him to stop playing politics of blackmail on her over campaign expenses.

She said the dispute between them was never about money but was instead driven by unfulfilled promises and what she called disrespect in the aftermath of the APC’s consensus governorship arrangement.

“What I find uncomfortable with Yayi is lack of trust,Yayi has trust deficit. He lacks integrity and should not be taken seriously. What he has done is playing the politics of blackmail. I can never trust him again in my life.”

“Now, I am no longer contesting governorship but Senate,” she said. “If it’s about money, who wants his money anyway?” Obasanjo said.

She wondered why anyone would believe her political decisions could be swayed by financial incentives, stressing that Adeola’s statement showed that his style of politics was built on monetary inducement rather than public service.

“What drives me, unlike them, is not transactional politics—buying people’s votes with money,” she said. “He thinks everyone has a price that can be bought.” she noted
Drawing attention to her own political trajectory, Senator Obasanjo argued that her public service record predated Senator Adeola’s emergence on the national political scene.
She recalled serving as Ogun State Commissioner for Health in 2003 before later representing Ogun Central in the Senate in 2011, maintaining that her political career had been built on service, credibility and grassroots engagement rather than financial inducement.
