New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Senatorial Candidate for Kano South, Abdulrahman Sumaila, has described the Federal Government’s school feeding programme as misplacement of priority.

New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Senatorial Candidate for Kano South, Abdulrahman Sumaila, has described the Federal Government’s school feeding programme as misplacement of priority.

Speaking in Kano during a high level consultative meeting of young men and women organised by Action Aid Nigeria, PEARL and Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD), at the weekend, Sumaila urged the government to stop the programme.

According to him, the Federal Government should instead focus on running and developing the university system and allow local, as well as state governments to take care of the programme.

He said: “I have a lot to do on education, if elected as a Senator of the Federal Republic. I will champion a cause that would ensure that the states and local councils handle feeding of pupils.

“What is the business of the Federal Government feeding primary school children, when it is clearly the responsibility of the state and local councils?”
