The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alh. Sa’ad Mohammad Abubakar III has again expressed worries on the insecurity threat in the country, particularly in the North.

Speaking, yesterday, during the coronation ceremony of Emir of Bichi, Alh. Nasiru Ado Bayero, the Sultan advocated concerted efforts to purge the region of insurgency, banditry and other criminality crippling its economy and development.

He emphasised that Nigeria is presently witnessing difficult challenge in history, soliciting support for the political leadership to end the menace.

The sultan, who rejoiced with Emir of Bichi on his coronation, enjoined Bayero to rule with justice and equity.

Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, who led the Federal Government delegation to Bichi emirate, admonished the new emir to emulate the sterling leadership quality of his late father, Alh. Ado Bayero.

Gambari reassured the emir of President Muhammadu Buhari’s support to the growth and development of the new emirate.

Shortly after taking oath of office and traditional instruments, Ado Bayero, who is also the younger brother of Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, declared readiness to fight criminality, just as he warned his subjects to report any suspected movement within the domain to appropriate quarters.

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who expressed confidence that the reign of the new emir would entrench economic transformation in Bichi Emirate, cautioned the first class emir to remain father to all, while avoiding acts capable of tarnishing his hard-earned image.
