A 25-YEAR-OLD operative of Amotekun Corps in Atiba Local Government Area of Oyo State, Suleiman Quadir, has been killed in an ambush by suspected bandits.

It was gathered that the bandits, numbering 11, at Living Farms in Fiditi on Tuesday, killed the operative.

The Oyo State Commandant of the corps, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (retd), disclosed this yesterday.

Quadir and his colleague, Amo Bello Yisau, were escorting the staff of the farm to their field when he was attacked by the armed bandits.

His colleague, Amo Yisau, was also hit by bullets, but he survived. He is receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Owode, Oyo town.

Quadir left behind an aged father, a wife, and a son. He has since been buried according to Islamic rites.

However, the Oyo State police spokesman, DSP Adewale Osifeso, said: “That story is currently being tracked. I would furnish you with updates as soon as an official statement is made.”

Osifeso, who later confirmed the incident, said: “Large-scale investigation is in progress and operatives are actively on the trail of the suspects.”
