Suspected ritualist confesses selling human head for N25,000 in Oyo

A suspected ritualist, Mr. Abideen Raheem (42), yesterday, confessed to having sold a human head at the rate of N25,000.

A suspected ritualist, Mr. Abideen Raheem (42), yesterday, confessed to having sold a human head at the rate of N25,000.
 
Raheem explained how he exhumed a human head, cut it with a knife and sold it to a friend. He was among the suspected 43 criminals paraded at the Oyo State Police Command Headquarters, Eleyele Ibadan.

  
Raheem confessed that he actually exhumed the corpse, chopped off the head with a knife and sold it to his friends that needed it for money ritual.
  
He said: “I actually wanted to help my friend who contacted me that he needed a human head for money ritual.
 
“I exhumed the head from one public cemetery in Olunde area of Ibadan on Saturday and immediately I got it, I called my friend Moruf Ganiyu aged 50, to come and pick it.

“I learnt that he was arrested with the head on his way home. It was his arrest that led to my arrest. ”
Also, Moruf  Ganiyu admitted to having sent his friend to get the head for him.
 
He said: “I actually discussed the issue with my friend Raheem and he promised to get me the head. Upon getting it, he called me, I collected it and I gave him the sum of N25,000 for the job.

I actually wanted to use the head for money ritual.”

 
The state Commissioner of Police, Ngozi Onadeko, confirmed that the suspected criminals were arrested for unlawful possession of human heads.
 
She said: ”On Monday 06/12/2021, about 1217hrs, operatives attached to Mapo Divisional Police Headquarters, while on intensive and intelligence-driven Patrols around Popoyemoja and Idi-Arere areas apprehended one Moruf Ganiyu ‘m’ age, 50yrs of 56 Omikunle Ilupeju area Ibadan, who had in his possession a human head concealed in a nylon bag.
  
“Raheem confessed to the crime and claimed the human head was exhumed from Abode Cemetery along Akaran Road Ibadan and sold to him by one Abideen Raheem ‘m’ of Ile-Sheu, Olomi-Ibadan at the rate of N25,000  for the purpose of money rituals. Exhibit recovered from the suspects is a human head.”
