Tax experts canvass automation for compliance
Peeved by the chaos occasioned by the duplication of revenue collecting agencies, experts have canvassed the automation of tax administration in the country to sustain compliance. The experts regretted that the nation currently has over 900 revenue collecting agencies, thereby making tax compliance unnecessarily laborious.
Leading the call in Lagos, Chief Executive Officer, Taxaide, a tax management firm, Bidemi Olumide, said the harsh and demanding conditions could be avoided with technology, especially ahead of the March 30 deadline for Personal Income Tax (PIT) returns, stressing the need for tax authorities to adopt technological tools for a more effective tax administration for Nigerians.
Chief Technology Officer, Taxtech, Onatoye Onakomaiya, stressed the need for adoption of web-based and mobile application service designed to make life easier for taxpayers; especially in an increasingly technologically driven world.
