Team Nigeria, represented by Team Taraba, has emerged winner of an international debate competition held in Rwanda, defeating the host nation in a unanimous decision by a five-member panel of judges.
The Nigerian contingent delivered a commanding performance, impressing judges and spectators with their confidence, eloquence, teamwork, and well-structured arguments throughout the contest.
Observers described the team’s presentation as exceptional, noting their strong preparation and articulate delivery across all rounds of the competition.
The victory has been linked by stakeholders to educational reforms in Taraba State under Governor Agbu Kefas, particularly the state’s free education policy, as well as the efforts of the Chairperson of the Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB), Christiana Taninga Binga.
They said the policy direction had helped improve access to quality education and nurture students capable of competing on the global stage.
The win has also been hailed as a reflection of the intellectual strength and potential of Nigerian youths when provided with adequate support and opportunities.
Stakeholders further commended the efforts of team leaders, coordinators, and supporters who contributed to the success of the Nigerian delegation, describing the achievement as a proud moment for both Taraba State and Nigeria in the international academic community.
