Tears as slain Lagos RETEAN member is buried

Tears flowed at Isashi Cemetery in  Ojo Local Council Lagos State, on Saturday,  December 17, as the body of Mr. Balogun Olamilekan Muda, popularly known as Go Slow, was finally laid to rest.

The deceased was allegedly murdered during fracas among members of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), in Iyano-Iba.

On the roll call of mourners were colleagues, family, friends, lovers and members of neighbouring communities, seeking justice for Mr. Balogun, before the body was buried at about 2:15p.m.

Recall that his death was due to a tussle over the control and right for the sale of tickets and collection of tolls from commercial buses at Ojo park and environs on Wednesday, October 15, 2022, which followed a protest by some RTEAN members, appealing for the removal of the then National President of the association, Musa Muhammad , over alleged intrusiveness and mismanagement of the association.

The deceased left behind two wives, aged parents and children.

The wives of the deceased are calling for justice from the state government.

The Guardian learnt that some miscreants alleged to have worked for the suspended Chairman of RTEAN in Lagos State, Musa Muhammed, have been arrested for further investigation.
