Nigerian singer-songwriter and instrumentalist Teddy Tones has released a remix of “Mafe,” a hit song originally performed by his late father, Prince Twins Seven Seven, the internationally acclaimed artist and United Nations Peace Ambassador.
Teddy Tones, who is also a fashion model, described the project as part of his effort to preserve and extend his father’s legacy through contemporary music. “It is important for me to keep his voice and his message alive,” he said while announcing the remix, which is currently airing on Nigerian radio stations.
Known for his vocal delivery and percussion skills, Teddy Tones has released several original songs and music videos in recent years. His catalogue reflects his blend of modern sound with influences from the cultural and artistic heritage of his late father, who was celebrated both in Nigeria and abroad for his work in visual and performing arts.
Prince Twins Seven Seven, who died in 2011, was one of Nigeria’s most prominent artists and was recognised globally for his contributions to culture and peace advocacy. Teddy Tones said reinterpreting “Mafe” was both a tribute and a continuation of that legacy.
“I grew up surrounded by music and art,” he said. “Working on this remix is my way of connecting with his spirit and sharing it with a new generation.”
Teddy Tones continues to perform and record, with more projects planned as part of his efforts to expand his profile in the Nigerian music industry while keeping his family’s artistic tradition in the public space.
