Terrorists kill 12 Katsina residents, injure others
Kastina State Police Command has confirmed that terrorists killed 12 people, yesterday, at Gakurdi community in Jibia Local Council of the state.
The terrorists, who reportedly injured an undisclosed number of people during the attack, also set ablaze farm produce storage facilities.
According to a source in the area, the terrorists, who were armed, stormed the village on four motorcycles.
He said that they shot sporadically before moving from house to house to attack hapless residents, adding that the situation led to panic in the community, causing residents to scamper for safety.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Gambo Isah, who confirmed the development, said the terrorists also killed some villagers, who attempted to escape into their farmlands.
Following the attack, Isah said the Commissioner of Police, Idris Dabban, led a team of security operatives to the community for an on-the-spot assessment of the incident.
His words: “The incident is true. The bandits were at the village this (Tuesday) morning and killed 12 villagers. Some of those killed included those attempting to escape to their farmlands.
“The Commissioner of Police had led a team of security operatives to the village this morning.”
Katsina, which is bedevilled by activities of bandits, livestock rustlers and kidnappers, has witnessed several attacks that left hundreds of people dead, maimed or abducted.
