Suspected terrorists have killed two persons and abducted more than 30 persons in two communities, in Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The incident occurred late Sunday night into the early hours of Monday morning at Dan-alhaji and Maidoriya communities.

Sources said 25 persons which are women and children were abducted at Dan-alhaji community, while dozens of others sustained various degrees of injuries.

In Maidoriya community, the terrorists killed two persons, and abducted seven others including six women, and a married man, with about a dozen others injured.

The incident comes less than a week after terrorists abducted several people in Gaje community, a village that is neighbouring Maidoriya village.

The council area amongst several others faces security challenges, brought about by nefarious activities of terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and rustlers.

Hundreds of lives have been lost since the security situation began more than a decade ago in the state, with thousands abducted for ransom, and hundreds of thousands of animals rustled.

A spokesperson for the police command in the state, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, did not respond to calls and text messages on the incident.
