Three people lost their lives, while three others were injured in an auto crash after a crane rammed into an oncoming truck on the Sagamu–Benin Expressway in Ogun State.

Involved in the crash were a white Mercedes-Benz truck with registration number: LG 59 BLF and a yellow crane without a registration number.

Spokesperson of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency(TRACE) Babatunde Akinbiyi confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta yesterday.

Akinbiyi said that the crash occurred at about 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, just a short distance before the Babcock University Junction in the Ikenne Local Government Area.

He said that six persons ( three males and three females) were involved in the crash where three persons sustain injuries and the remaining three persons died on spot.

The TRACE Spokesperson said that the cause of the crash was due to excessive speed of the crane against traffic when it struck an oncoming truck head-on.

He said that operatives of TRACE and Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) were on ground for rescue mission and traffic diversion.

Akinbiyi said that the injured victims were rescued and taken to Babcock University Teaching Hospital, for medical attention and the corpses had been deposited at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OSUTH) in Sagamu.
