
At least, three persons have been confirmed dead while seven others sustained injuries, following a crash involving two vehicles around the Conoil filling station axis, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Spokesperson for the Ogun Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Florence Okpe, disclosed this in a statement, yesterday. The incident, which occurred at 9:23 p.m., involved a Toyota Hiace bus with registration numbers RLG 846 XA and a trailer marked JJN 32 YX.
Okpe said the accident was caused by over speeding, which led to the driver of the bus losing control. She said 18 people, including 16 men and two women, were involved in the incident.
She said seven persons sustained injuries while three others died. She further disclosed that the injured were taken to Idera Hospital, Sagamu, for medical attention, and that the deceased were deposited at a morgue in the same hospital.
Sector Commander, Anthony Uga, advised motorists to be cautious on highways, especially, given high vehicular movement at the festive season and poor visibility, due to weather conditions.
