Three senators dump APC
Three senators from the All Progressives Congress (APC) have defected to other political parties.
The lawmakers are Senators Ahmad Babba Kaita representing Katsina North, Senator Lawal Yahaya Gumau representing Bauchi South, and Senator Francis Alimikhena representing Edo North.
The Lawmaker’s decision to defect from the APC was contained in a separate letter, on Tuesday, during the plenary by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.
Senator Kaita and Senator Alimikhena defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while their other colleague, Senator Gumau defected to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
“My resignation from the APC was born out of the marginalisation of critical stakeholders by the State Government and Leadership of the Party in Katsina State, where small people like me do not have a chance. I have since been joyful and graciously accepted into the fold of the Peoples Democratic Party in Katsina State.” Kaita said
Alimikhena disclosed in his letter that his decision to resign from the ruling party was as a result of “continuing and multifaceted crisis that has bedeviled the APC”, especially in his Senatorial District.
