Guber running mate condemns vandalism

Thugs, yesterday, attacked the Kogi State Secretariat of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Lokoja over a poster of President Bola Tinubu on its wall.

The secretariat, located along Pata Market, was vandalised, as some hoodlums burnt down the banners of Tinubu.

SDP governorship candidate, Muritala Ajaka, reportedly opened the secretariat for Tinubu’s presidential campaign when he was in All Progressives Congress (APC) as the Deputy National Publicity Secretary.

He left APC for SDP when he could not secure the APC governorship ticket in the primary election.

Addressing newsmen, yesterday, at the secretariat, SDP governorship running mate, Sam Abenemi, described the attack as unfortunate, pointing out that it only helped soar the party’s popularity ahead of the November 11 governorship election.

According to him, some hoodlums had, last week, approached security guards at the campaign secretariat to remove Tinubu’s billboards and banners.

He said: “It is important to state that Tinubu have been a mentor to our candidate, Ajaka. Because of his belief in the Tinubu Presidency, Ajaka worked tirelessly to ensure his victory in the state.

“Ajaka and Kogi SDP are resolutely in support of Tinubu’s administration and will continue to pray for him to succeed. We urge our supporters to remain calm in the face of provocation. We assure that of victory in the coming governorship election; hence, some people are scared and are using intimidation.”

Abenemi called on security agencies in the state to fish out the vandals.
