President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) on its emergence as the 2025 Global Public Relations Association of the Year at the World Public Relations and Communication Award held in Lisbon, Portugal.
The President praised the President and Chairman of the NIPR Governing Council, Ike Neliaku, and the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, for what he described as exemplary leadership and dedication that culminated in the institute’s historic global recognition.
NIPR was adjudged the world’s best public relations association after a rigorous and highly competitive selection process involving 89 entries from 19 countries, with the award announced on February 19, 2026.
President Tinubu, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, commended the leadership and members of the institute, as well as public relations practitioners across the country, for their vision, professionalism and commitment, which has propelled NIPR to global prominence.
He described the achievement as a strong endorsement of Nigeria’s growing influence and professionalism within the global public relations and strategic communications landscape.
According to the President, the award reflects the transformative reforms and international engagement initiatives championed by NIPR, alongside the enabling policy environment and institutional support provided by the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation under Minister Idris.
He noted that the recognition underscores Nigeria’s capacity to set global benchmarks in ethical communication, public trust-building and national reputation management.
Expressing confidence in the institute’s future, President Tinubu urged NIPR to sustain its drive for excellence, innovation and integrity in public relations practice.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting institutions that project Nigeria positively on the global stage and contribute meaningfully to national development through effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
