The immediate past Registrar/Chief Executive of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Prof Josiah Ajiboye, has refuted reports suggesting that he was fired and replaced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Reacting to a report titled: Tinubu Sacks Top Government Official, Appointed Replacement, Ajiboye insisted that he resigned his appointment with effect from August 30th, 2024, after a meritorious eight-year service to Nigeria and Africa, and had since resumed back to the University of Ibadan since the 1st of September, 2024 where he was initially appointed from.
“While one can easily dismiss the publication as a hatchet job from an ignorant writer who is not familiar with the Education sector, especially the Federal Ministry of Education, it is imperative to set the record straight for future purposes,” he said.
Ajiboye said he handed over to the most senior Director in TRCN on the 30th of August, 2024, “and the Lady had piloted the affairs of TRCN since then, until the appointment of a substantive Registrar/CE by the President, in person of Mrs. Soyombo.
“The letter of acknowledgement of the handing-over by the FME attested to the high-level performance and unparalleled achievements recorded by TRCN under Prof Ajiboye’s leadership.
“It is, therefore, very strange and uncalled for to pollute the public with such misinformation of a sack. The writer and the media outlet are, therefore, with this rejoinder requested to pull down their false story from the Internet or otherwise face the consequential legal actions.”
