Tinubu embarks on 10-day working vacation in France, UK

Shehu Sani tackles Presidency, says ‘working vacation is something else’
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, yesterday, departed Abuja for Europe to begin a 10-day working vacation as part of his 2025 yearly leave.

According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President will spend the holiday between France and the United Kingdom (UK) before returning to the country.

“Tinubu’s trip follows the long-established practice of Nigerian leaders combining official duties with short breaks abroad, often described as working vacations.

“The President is expected to use the period to hold informal consultations while also taking time to rest.

“In line with constitutional provisions, Vice President Kashim Shettima will oversee state affairs during the President’s absence,” the statement stated.

MEANWHILE, former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has faulted the Presidency’s description of Tinubu’s trip to Europe as a “working vacation.”

Sani, while reacting in a post on his X handle, wrote: “I understand the word ‘working.’ I understand the word ‘vacation.’ The sentence ‘working vacation’ is something else.”

However, Tinubu’s frequent foreign travels, particularly those identified as ‘working vacations,’ have sparked reactions on social media.

The President, after taking oath of office on May 29, 2023, has undertaken numerous international trips for official diplomatic and economic purposes.

Checks also revealed that since his assumption, Tinubu has embarked on ‘working vacation’ trips abroad for at least five times in two years.
