Tinubu, govs urged to reduce cost of governance

Prophet (Dr.) Emmanuel Abiodun Alogbo

Says true devt cannot thrive with corruption, expensive governance
Supreme Head of Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, Prophet Emmanuel Alogbo, has implored President Bola Tinubu, state governors, as well as local council chairmen, to reduce the cost of governance and to redirect resources toward infrastructure, education, social and health investment and economic prosperity.

Speaking yesterday, during the opening ceremony of the 2026 Annual General Conference of The Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, in Lagos, themed Cherubim and Seraphim Church -An Unhidden City, Alogbo maintained that true development would not thrive where corruption prevailed, governance was expensive and accountability was weak.

He said, “As a church, we cannot be silent observers. We must continue to pray fervently for our leaders while also speaking truth with courage, moderation and love. Our prayers for Nigeria must be matched with advocacy for justice, equity, accountability and national cohesion. Nigeria remains a secular state and her unity depends on fairness, inclusion and respect for diversity. Any action that threatens this balance must be addressed with wisdom and restraint in the interest of peace and national stability.

“We will continue to urge government at all levels to pursue policies that strengthen true federalism, economic prosperity and social justice so that Nigeria can move forward as one indivisible nation.”

Alogbo also stated that the church must stand as a moral compass, reminding the nation that prosperity should not only be measured in wealth, but in justice, fairness and compassion for the poor, in realisation that the work of nation-building is not solely dependent on the government but a collective contribution.

Commenting specifically about the conference, he said: “As we deliberate during this conference, may wisdom guide our decisions, unity strengthen our resolve and peace govern our interactions.”

In his goodwill message, the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who commended the church and its leadership for their enduring commitment to prayer, holiness, moral discipline, and service to humanity, noted that over the years, the Cherubim and Seraphim Church had remained a pillar of spiritual strength, social responsibility, and national unity, contributing significantly to moral guidance, peaceful coexistence, and community development in the nation.

The governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, added: “Across Nigeria, and indeed Lagos State, we are reminded daily that sustainable progress must be built on strong values, integrity, compassion, and faith.
