** Calls for national unity, harmony, economic prosperity
President Bola Tinubu has offered prayers for lasting peace, national unity and an end to insecurity in Nigeria during the performance of the lesser Hajj (Umrah) in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
The President performed the Islamic religious rites early Friday at the Grand Mosque, Masjid al-Haram, where he circumambulated the Holy Ka’abah in an act of worship, devotion and thanksgiving to Almighty Allah.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the spiritual exercise, Tinubu described the Umrah as significant, saying it reflected his commitment to Nigerians, his responsibility as President and his faith in the will of Allah.
“I believe this Umrah is very significant for the love of our people, commitment to the job and our country, Nigeria; commitment to the will of Allah that His words must prevail, and that there’s no other God but Him and He’s the only one that makes a human being what he can be and what he would be in life,” he said.
The President said he was grateful to Allah for the opportunity to undertake the spiritual exercise and offer prayers for the country and its people.
“We have just prayed for our nation, for everyone to live in peace and harmony, happiness and faith in God Almighty,” he added.
Tinubu also sought divine guidance for the nation’s leaders, praying that Allah would strengthen the bonds of brotherhood among Nigerians and grant the country lasting relief from insecurity and other challenges.
He expressed hope that Nigeria would sustain its march towards economic prosperity, social development and a more secure future for its citizens.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a peaceful, united and prosperous country where every Nigerian, irrespective of religious belief or background, could live in safety, dignity and harmony.
