TotalEnergies empowers host communities with value-driven CSR initiatives

TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc has reaffirmed its dedication to empowering host communities through value-driven Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, aimed at fostering sustainable development, capacity building, and economic empowerment.

As part of its commitment, the company, yesterday (Tuesday) commissioned newly built and equipped 12 toilet units and provision of a sickbay with two furnished offices at St. Theresa Primary School, Marine Beach, Apapa, Lagos State.

The initiative is geared towards improving hygiene standards and access to healthcare for schoolchildren, as well as ensuring a healthier learning environment.

Managing Director of TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc., Samba Seye, who spoke during the commissioning ceremony, reaffirmed the firm’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through its various programmes and initiatives, stressing that TotalEnergies has integrated sustainable development into all its projects and operations while strengthening partnerships with key stakeholders.

Seye, who was represented by the company’s Executive Director, SG, Emmanuel Morand-Fehr, stated that the project aligns with SDG 3, good health and well-being by addressing the critical need for renovated school toilets and the provision of a sickbay to improve the welfare of both pupils and teachers.

Also, General Manager of Country Services, TotalEnergies, Adesua Adewole, urged the school to ensure proper maintenance of the project, emphasisingthe company’s commitment to fostering strong partnerships with its host communities.

The Ojora of Ijora, Oba Abdulfatai Aremu Ojora, represented by the Bashorun of Ijora, Akeem Ojora, appealed to the school authorities to ensure proper maintenance of the project, saying that the investment by the company would encourage further contributions if the projects are well preserved over the years.

Education Secretary, Local Government Education Authority, Iganmu, FausatOlawepo, acknowledged TotalEnergies’ numerous contributions that include the provision of 24-hour electricity, construction of a firewall fence to protect pupils and teachers, and the establishment of a food vendor hall for the students.

She, however, expressed gratitude for the impactful initiatives.
