Traditional rulers are set to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Sa’ad Abubakar, on November 2.

Disclosing this to the media at his palace, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, who was appointed the chairman of the organising committee, said:

“By virtue of his position as the Sultan of Sokoto and Leader of all Nigerian Muslims, he serves as the President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA). He is also the Co-Chair of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN) and Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC), who spares no effort in building bridges of understanding, harmony and peaceful coexistence amongst various communities.

“His Eminence is the most ubiquitous member of the traditional institution, and is welcome across every geo-political zone in Nigeria, during the course of innumerable national assignments.”

Many events have been lined up to celebrate the event. These include an international symposium on the Sokoto Caliphate, featuring prominent scholars and academics from the UK, US, Canada, Sudan and Nigeria.

There will also be a special prayer session, as well as, a mini Durbar.
