An Abule Egba-bound train, this morning, crushed a tricyclist and his four passengers after its driver wanted to make a late dash across the tracks.

It was gathered that the train had left the station at Ike Aro and was heading towards Abule Egba when the tragedy occurred as it approached Toyin, a suburb between Agbado Crossing and Iju Ishaga Station.

According to eyewitnesses, as the train approached, motorists and pedestrians alike stopped to give it the right of way.

However, the tricyclist, who tried to make a last-minute cross along the tracks, was crushed alongside his passengers.

As at the time of writing the report, their bodies were splattered over the rail tracks.

Details later.
