The National and State House of Assembly Election Tribunal sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, has dismissed the petition filed by the Labour Party’s (LP) candidate, Abiodun Dabiri, against the election of Wasiu Sanni Eshinlokun of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the duly-elected senator for Lagos State Central Senatorial District in the election held on February 25, 2023.

The three-man panel, led by Justice Ashua Ewah, dismissed the petition and upheld the election of Eshinlokun as the duly elected senator for district.

The tribunal, in its judgment, yesterday, held that the petition was incompetent as the issue raised falls within pre-election matters.

Other members of the tribunal are Justices Abdulahi Ozegya and M.A. Sambo.

The tribunal consented with the position of the lead counsel to Eshinlokun, Wahab Shittu (SAN), as well as counsel to INEC and the APC, that the petition be dismissed for lacking in merit.

It, therefore, confirmed the validity of the election that returned Eshinlokun as the senator representing Lagos Central at the National Assembly.
