Troops of the Nigerian military have successfully dismantled a suspected terrorist camp and disrupted a logistics supply route in Kogi State, in a continued effort to strengthen security across the region.
The operation, carried out by personnel of the 12 Brigade under Operation MESA, took place in the early hours of April 16 in Yagba West Local Government Area.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops advanced towards a location believed to be hosting a criminal hideout situated between the Ejiba and Ofi communities.
The mission was executed in collaboration with operatives of the Nigeria Police Force and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
The security team mobilised from their Forward Operating Base in Egbe before moving into the targeted area.
During the operation, troops intercepted a suspected logistics courier believed to be supplying food items to the camp.
The individual reportedly fled upon sighting the advancing forces, abandoning a motorcycle along with the items being transported.
Following the interception, the troops proceeded to locate and destroy the suspected camp, effectively disrupting activities in the area.
Military sources confirmed that no direct confrontation occurred during the operation, as the suspects had vacated the location before troops made contact.
The development highlights ongoing efforts by Nigerian security forces to dismantle criminal networks and cut off supply chains aiding insurgent and terrorist activities across the country.
