The military says troops of Operation Lafiya Dole have killed four and arrested four Boko Haram terrorists in a coordinated effort with the Department of State Services (DSS) in Gombe and Borno states.

It added that one Adamu Hassan, notorious for making improvised explosive devices (IEDs) for insurgents, was arrested at Kaltungo during the stop and search exercise on Bauchi-Gombe road.

The Deputy Director, Public Relations, Theatre Command Operation, Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, in a statement in Maiduguri, stated that five terrorists were arrested at Kudiye community along Dikwa-Gulumbagana road in Borno.

He said the terrorists were desperately searching for food and logistics in the Bama-Dikwa axis when the arrests were effected after a tip-off.

The spokesman noted that they had got wind of the information that the suspects were storming the community for food and other basic needs.
According to him, the suspects belonged to the Abubakar Shekau faction of the sect.

His words: “The arrested terrorists have been taken into custody and are making useful confessions to the Army. Two motorcycles, bags of grains and tamarind were also recovered by troops.”

He said during the clearance operations in the mountainous region of Bokko Hilde on Ngoshe-Pulka road, three terrorists were also killed.

Nwachukwu added that a motorcycle and two AK-47 rifles were retrieved from the suspects who were fleeing military action in Sambisa Forest.

Saying the ‘fleeing terrorists’ have continuously made attempts to infiltrate communities and unleash terror, the spokesman, however, urged the public to remain vigilant while going about their normal activities.
