Troops kill suspected cattle rustler in Katsina

Troops of 35 Battalion, 1 Brigade Nigerian Army, on Friday, killed a suspected cattle rustler and armed bandit on Tsambe-Fafare road, Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.
A report by the News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN) said this was contained in a statement issued by Col. Sani Usman, Acting Director, Army Public Relations on Saturday in Abuja.
He said the troop was in a joint patrol with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Katsina State, under operation “SHARAN DAJI,” when the incident occurred and that the operation followed information received from patriotic citizens that three gunmen were sighted on motorcycles in the area.
Usman said the team swung into action and pursued the suspected armed bandits towards Dumburu forest in Zamfara. During the encounter, the team killed one of the suspected bandits, while the other two escaped with gun shot wounds.
In a related development, a combined team arrested a suspected notorious cattle rustler and armed bandit, Abubakar Mohammed and his boys, Ana’s Gora and Bello Sani. Items recovered included 49 cattle and 25 sheep.
