The troops of Operation Fansan Yamma OPFY, have in a coordinated operation against bandits rescued 14 kidnapped victims following at Horo Birni Village, Shagari Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

Reliable military sources said that the operation was carried out on August 4th, 2026, after troops of the 8 Division Strike Team, Forward Operating Base (FOB) Sifawa, acted on credible intelligence revealing bandits’ activities in the axis.

The source maintained that the bandits had unleashed the attack on the community and were fleeing with the kidnapped victims and the rustled cattle when the troops swiftly mobilised and encountered them.

It was gathered that the military troops engaged the bandits with overpowered them with firepower, forcing the terrorists to abandon the abducted victims and ran into the forest.

The troops conducted further swung into action, searching the general area, which led to the successful rescue of 14 abducted victims and rustled cattle.

The military said the timely intervention denied the bandits the access to escape with the abducted victims, as the troops engaged them.

The sources said that the troops have continued efforts to track the fleeing criminals, as the troops maintain dominance in the area to prevent further attacks.
