Two bodies recovered from river after auto crash in Bauchi

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Bauchi State Command, has recovered two dead bodies after a vehicle plunged into a river on Sunday morning along Darazo–Dukku road.

The State Sector Commander, Yusuf Abdullahi, in a statement, said two other people sustained injuries in the accident.

According to Yusuf, the crash involved two vehicles, a station wagon Opel Vectra registered as DSA-120 AA and a Toyota Hiace commercial bus marked; GME-74 YX.

He said that the crash was caused by overspeeding, adding that it occurred about 9:08 a.m.

“The crash happened on Gombe Abba bridge on Darazo–Dukku highway, 32 kilometres away from the FRSC Darazo office.

“The crash involved a private 406 Peugeot with registration number: 06H-04NS. The crash, which was caused by a speed violation involved four people. 

“The driver lost control and plunged into the river. Two people were killed, while the remaining two were injured.

“The trapped victims and the vehicle were finally removed and taken to the General Hospital, Dukku, Gombe State for confirmation about 4:11p.m, today September 26, 2021.

“Two of them were confirmed dead by a medical doctor at the hospital,” he added.
