Tragedy struck at the weekend during a birthday bash that toured sour over suitors’ clash in Ondo, the headquarters of Ondo West Local Government Area of the state, as two persons were reportedly injured.

It was learnt that a 25-year-old woman identified as Bunmi Akinlotan, organized a birthday party, which was attended by two of her boyfriends, who eventually attacked each other.

According to a source, who pleaded anonymity, the party held at a popular hotel in the town and was well attended by youths in the area. It, however, turned bloody when there was misunderstanding between the two boyfriends of the celebrant, who engaged in verbal exchanges, leading to physical assaults.

The source disclosed that the celebrant invited the two men to the ceremony not knowing that they would identify themselves as rivals. She said trouble started when the celebrant was invited to dance and insisted that only Solomon Endurance, the boyfriend who reportedly financed the ceremony, would dance with her.

Unfortunately, this provoked the anger of the other boyfriend, whose name was given as Olaniyi Ososanmi, insisting on dancing with the celebrant or he will disrupt the occasion.

“Ososanmi angrily left the venue and came back few minutes later with broken bottles in his hands and attacked his rival, Akinlotan and some others. He stabbed his rival on the neck and other parts of his body,” she said.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Enuowa Police Station, Mr. Simon Isinkaye, who confirmed the incident, said the two persons including the celebrant have been arrested.

Isinkaye revealed that the victims who sustained serious injuries were currently receiving treatment at the state Trauma Centre, Ondo. He added that the suspects would be arraigned as soon as investigation is completed on the matter.
