Two dead as train hits workers in Slovenia


Two workers died and several others were injured on Thursday when a train ran into them while they were doing maintainance work on tracks in southern Slovenia, officials said.

The accident occurred in the Postojna municipality, around 50 kilometres (30 miles) southwest of the capital Ljubljana, the country’s disaster and rescue agency said in a statement.

Two died and two others were injured, according to the agency, while local media put the number of seriously injured at four, citing police.

AFP could not immediately reach police officials for further details.

Deadly train accidents are rare in Slovenia.
