Two million Nigerian teachers certified, says TRCN
The Registrar, Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Prof. Josiah Ajiboye, says two million teachers have been certified to tutor in the country.
Ajiboye, who addressed journalists in Abuja yesterday on the activities of the council, said the teachers were certified as professionals in the ongoing registration exercise.
The registrar added that its December 31, 2019 deadline to rid classrooms of unqualified teachers was not to sack anyone, but to sanitise the education system.
He stressed that the aim of the council was to increase professionalism and to ensure that every child got good basic education, announcing the end of the era of using the teaching profession for political patronage.
