
The father of the girl, Olusegun Adetoro, who spoke with journalists in Akure, said the family has spent all its savings as well as disposed of properly to sustain the child’s life, despite their poor financial background as civil servants.
Mr. Adetoro, who lives at No 4 Igbatoro Road, Akure, appealed to the government, philanthropists and the public to save the baby’s life.
He also showed The Guardian a medical echocardiography report that first diagnosed the disease, dated January 15, 2020.
In the medical report from Biket Medical Centre, Cardiac Consultation Unit, Osogbo, Osun State; signed by the Medical Director, Dr. A.D. Adenle, the left atrium of the toddler was not dilated, while the right atrium was dilated.
The two-dimensional echocardiography report detected defects in the vein, atrium, ventricle, great arteries, pericardium, pulse wave doppler amongst others, making life unbearable for the baby and family.
The left ventricular outlook tract is unobstructed and the flow is laminar.
The aortic valve is trileaflet with no evidence of significant stenosis or regurgitation. The left and right coronary arteries were clearly identified following the normal course,” the report stated.
He also showed the second medical report from the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital Complex, Akure, Ondo State, with Ref: UNIMEDTH/408/068/ dated May 4, 2020, which required N6 million for surgery.
The report, signed by Dr. O.A. Olubosede stated that the “child is diagnosed with congenital heart disease (Tetralogy of Fallot). She would need about N6 million for surgery to correct the defect.
Confirming the situation, the cardiologist, Dr. Olubosede, told The Guardian that the baby’s health is deteriorating daily due to the delay in a surgical operation.
She enjoined philanthropists and well-meaning Nigerians to come to the rescue of little Fiyinfoluwa and her parents by raising N6m for the operation as soon as possible.
