Immediate past governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, weekend, canvassed support for the Peoples Democratic Party’s Vice Presidential candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa.

He urged PDP in Delta State to work closely to deliver the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate.

Uduaghan’s declaration is a major shift from the pre-governorship primary era, in which he allegedly joined forces with his cousin, James Ibori, to declare support for Chief David Edevbie.

Uduaghan spoke during the meeting of the party’s leaders in Delta South to flag off the ward-to-ward campaign for the 2023 general election at his residence in Warri. It’s the first time he would be attending a PDP activity since the party’s divisive governorship primary.

In canvassing support for Okowa’s vice presidential ambition despite alleged political differences between the duo, Uduaghan may be signalling that the PDP leadership in the state is beginning to reconcile aggrieved parties ahead of the general elections next year.

Uduaghan also called for unity in the party in the state towards delivering all party’s candidates in the 2023 election,

The meeting was reportedly convened at Uduaghan’s behest by the Delta South PDP caucus to show that the party stakeholders were working to reconcile all parties.

Uduaghan said: “We must all come together and deliver our candidate. I am saying this with all seriousness and from the bottom of my heart. I am old enough in the politics of Delta State to assess people so I know those who are sincere and those who are not sincere. It will benefit us more to deliver our candidate than deliver a candidate of another party. I am saying this from experience and that’s what will happen. If you deliver a new candidate he will satisfy his people first before you.”
