UI alumni Lagos branch to honour elders, outstanding members

The University of Ibadan (UI) Alumni Association, Lagos State Branch, will honour some of its senior citizens and outstanding members on Saturday, October 8, 2022.

The University of Ibadan (UI) Alumni Association, Lagos State Branch, will honour some of its senior citizens and outstanding members on Saturday, October 8, 2022.

According to Chairman of the branch, Otunba Folaranmi Salau, the event, which will hold at Island Club, Onikan, Lagos at 1:00 p,.m., tagged “2022 Elders’ Day,” is designed to bring together the ancient, medieval, modern and millennial generations of UItes in Lagos to exchange ideas and spotlight the contributions of outstanding members to the progress of the association, development of their alma mater and the growth of education in Nigeria as a whole.

Chairman of the event is Dr. Felix Ohiwerei, while Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Mrs. Folashade Jaji, and Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, will be special guests.

To speak on the theme: “Alumni and the future of education of Nigeria,” is the National Chairman, Association of Private Practicing Surveyors of Nigeria, Thomas Oluseye Dabiri, while Lady Maiden Alex-Ibru will be the Mother of the Day.

The doyen of Nigeria’s corporate business, Dr. Michael Omolayole, as well as the Olora of Ora, Oba Adebayo Akolade, are going to be the Father of the Day and Royal Father of the day respectively.

In the same regard, Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Micheal Ola Dawodu, highlighted the importance of the event, saying it would go a long way in showcasing the contributions of some outstanding members in elevating the association and education sector in general as well as brainstorming on the future of education in Nigeria.
